Reporting Abuse, Neglect, or Exploitation in Texas

Texas Abuse Hotline

To report suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation involving a child, an older adult, or a person with a disability in Texas:

The telephone reporting line is available 24 hours a day. Reports may also be submitted through the official Texas Abuse Hotline website when the situation does not require an immediate emergency response.

Before Contacting a Resource

You may be asked for information such as:

  • your current location or ZIP code

  • whether you are in immediate danger

  • whether children or other vulnerable people are involved

  • whether you need shelter, transportation, medical care, or legal assistance

  • whether it is safe to call, text, leave a voicemail, or send an email

  • whether the person causing harm has access to your devices or accounts

Share only what you feel safe sharing unless information is legally required for a particular report or service.

Privacy and Device Safety

If another person may be monitoring your device:

  • use a safer phone, computer, or public device when possible

  • consider whether call logs, text messages, emails, location services, or browser history are visible

  • avoid saving passwords on a shared device

  • use private browsing only when it is safe to do so

  • remember that deleting browser history may itself be noticeable

No digital safety step can guarantee complete privacy.
